Seabrook House Celebrates Recovery Month in Many Different Ways!

SEABROOK, NJ (September 1, 2009) -- September is National Alcohol & Drug Addiction Recovery Month and Seabrook House, an internationally recognized inpatient treatment center, is observing this time with great programs and events taking place all month. The following is just a few of the ways Seabrook House is promoting the message that recovery from addiction is possible and that treatment works. Seabrook House’s vision is to make recovery possible for every family who needs it and to educate the public at large in an effort to reduce the stigma associated with addiction.

Seabrook House is a proud sponsor of PRO-ACT’s Recovery Walk which will take place in Philadelphia, PA at Penn’s Landing on Saturday, September 12th. Along with the sponsorship, Seabrook House will host a team of employees and alumni and join the 3-mile walk. Seabrook House’s sponsorship of Recovery Walks will also be broadcasted on a billboard, which will be seen by over 3 million commuters on Interstate Route 95 in Philadelphia, PA - - the fourth largest media market in the nation. This sponsorship is a sign of Seabrook’s dedication to helping those in recovery, as well as provides website links so that those in need will be able to seek immediate help.

What better way to support this year’s Recovery Month theme “Join the Voices for Recovery,” than by inviting alumni back to campus for an alumni picnic to form a community with other patients of the past and present? On September 27th, Seabrook House will be hosting an alumni picnic from 9:30am until 2:30pm. Alumni are encouraged to return to share their experience, strength and hope and offer support to current patients in treatment. They will get a chance to reconnect with past friends and the opportunity to speak with these current patients about life after Seabrook House.

Seabrook House Foundation will be holding its 13th Annual Golf Classic on September 25th at the Seaview Marriott in Galloway Township, NJ. The event benefits the Patient Care Fund which provides financial support to those who can not afford addiction treatment but are committed to the standards of a full recovery. The Patient Care Fund helps fulfill Seabrook House’s vision “to make recovery possible for every family who needs it” and has contributed $513,421 to the treatment of more than 115 patients since its inception in 2001.

On Saturday, September 26th, the residents and staff of Seabrook West will join other treatment professionals and social service employees in Wellsboro, PA for a 2-mile walk. This walk concentrates on bringing the community together to acknowledge the addiction issue and support one another while living a life in recovery.

On September 28th-September 30th, Seabrook House President Ed Diehl, Vice President of Business Operations Matthew Wolf and Clinical Outreach Representatives, Lindy Judd, Patricia Connors and Hank Talbot will be attending the “Moment of Change” conference in Palm Beach, FL. to further their educational training on family interventions. The three day event features presenters from across the country speaking on a variety of topics from alternative approaches to interventions, different family therapy methods and the mechanics of intervening. On September 29th, Seabrook House Primary Therapist, George Koren, M.Ed., LCADC, LPC, CCS will be presenting on the practical application of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in an inpatient addiction treatment setting
